Egyptian Christians: some voice of the People on the BBC

".. According to Rafiq, an Egyptian Copt, the myth that President Hosni Mubarak is the best defender of [Egyptian] Christians in the face of Islamic extremists is a myth that has fallen with the bombing of the 'Church of Saints' in Alexandria on new year's eve.
Rafiq and other Copts continue to demonstrate together with at least another million Egyptians that took to the streets on Tuesday affirming that their desire to terminate the 30 year long Mubarak rule, superseded any fears of a change in authority that benefits Islamic groups."
"... Christians have joined the protesters pouring into the streets of Egypts despite the statements of Coptic Pope Shnouda's that supported Mubrak as the demonstration broke out." (see my previous post here)

"... Mina Shehata, a Copt form Nag'a Hammadi [in Upper Egypt], where 6 Christians were shot and killed in early 2010, said: We came here to show people that Every Egyptian should be here, and should want to be here.  No difference between Christians and Muslims"

"... Amongst the protesters in Tahreer Square, repeated there were images of the Cross joining the Cross, imahges that became more noticeable after the bombing of the Alexandria Church [on new years eve] where 23 individuals were killed"
"... Another Coptic woman demonstrator said: We do not want Mubarak.  People here do not want him.  Muslims and Christians do not want him."

As history keep teaching us: organized religious institutions keep failing their people as the institutions survival become eventually the institutions' raisons d'être. Thank God that people also keep figuring that out.

May God Bless and Protect all the freedom seekers in Egypt.

  1. I have almost given up on organized religion.

  2. The Patriarch of the Copts is concerned, perhaps because of the dilemma with the Assyrians in Iraq. Due to a lack of representation in the New World Order's conceived Government's lack of recognizing them. Certain Mohammedans have been murdering and otherwise--harrasing them as well.
